Perceptions of Ward Atmosphere on an Oncology Unit
The International Journal of Psychiatry in Medicine, 1982This study examined perceptions of ward atmosphere and ideal ward atmosphere by twenty patients, twenty-four staff, and fifteen family members on an oncology unit at a major cancer research institute. Specified preferences for an ideal ward atmosphere were assumed to reflect psychosocial needs of the three groups.

Polychlorinated Naphthalenes in the Atmosphere of the United Kingdom
Environmental Science & Technology, 2000Archived extracts from two air sampling campaigns were used to investigate PCNs in the U.K. atmosphere. In the first study, daily air samples were collected at a semi-rural location (Hazelrigg) in northwest England in 1994. Air parcel back-trajectories were used to distinguish air masses that stemmed from distinct sectors, and 18 samples representing ...

Acid inputs from the atmosphere in the United Kingdom
Soil Use and Management, 1985Abstract. Inputs of acidity to the ground arise through two distinct routes: wet deposition which includes all acidity deposited in rain and snow and dry deposition, the direct sorption of SO2, NO2 or HNO3 gases by vegetation or soil surfaces. The acidity from dry deposition of SO2 and NO2 is created during the oxidation of deposited SO2 and NO2 to ...

Symbols, Units and Nomenclature for Atmospheric Transmission
Optical Engineering, 1966This report discusses concepts, symbols, units and nomenclature for describing the transmission of radiant flux through earth's variable density atmosphere. The geometrical concepts used in the field of photometry and radiometry are the same. A common set of symbols is proposed for use in both fields together with some terms not previously used.
