Cubic di-μ-amido-bis[bis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)ytterbium(III)] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The title compound, [Yb2(C5H5)4(NH2)2], was synthesized in a Parr high-pressure vessel starting from monoclinic [Cp2YbNH2]2 (where Cp = cyclopentadienyl).

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Neutrino cross sections at high energies and the future observations of ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays

open access: yes, 2002
We show that future detectors of ultrahigh-energy cosmic-ray neutrinos will be able to measure neutrino-nucleon cross section at energies as high as 10^{11}GeV or higher. We find that the flux of up-going charged leptons per unit surface area produced by

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

UV Exposure during Cycling as a Function of Solar Elevation and Orientation

open access: yesAtmosphere
Although cycling is the most prevalent means of locomotion in the world, little research has been done in evaluating the ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure of cyclists.

Flare stacks on agricultural biogas plants - safety and operational requirements

open access: yesResearch in Agricultural Engineering, 2019
The flare stack is a piece of equipment, which is used as a safety element at a biogas plant. In the case of a cogeneration unit or gas boiler failure, the biogas is redirected to the flare stack where it is burned. When the flare stack fails, the biogas

Air pollution modelling using a graphics processing unit with CUDA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is a powerful tool for parallel computing. In the past years the performance and capabilities of GPUs have increased, and the Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) - a parallel computing architecture - has been ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.
