Present status of soil moisture estimation over the African continent

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies, 2019
Soil moisture is the key parameter that governs the partitioning of the mass and energy fluxes between land and atmosphere through its influence on surface evaporation, runoff, albedo and emissivity. Therefore, accurate quantification of soil moisture is

Abundances and search for vertical stratification in the atmospheres of four HgMn stars

open access: yes, 2010
Using high resolution, high-S/N archival UVES spectra, we have performed a detailed spectroscopic analysis of 4 chemically peculiar HgMn stars (HD 71066, HD 175640, HD 178065 and HD 221507). Using spectrum synthesis, mean photospheric chemical abundances

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

Application of HP in the atmospheric freeze drying unit

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2020
Abstract Method of increasing the energy efficiency of atmospheric freeze drying due to the use of a heat pump unit (HPU) in a circuit are considered in this article. The use of HPU in the composition of the drying unit allows to more fully use the heat of superheated steam and the heat of condensation in the process of freeze-drying at ...

The lower boundary of the accretion column in magnetic cataclysmic variables [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Using a parameterised function for the mass loss at the base of the post-shock region, we have constructed a formulation for magnetically confined accretion flows which avoids singularities, such as the infinity in density, at the base associated with ...

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Thermodynamics of an Accretion Disk Annulus with Comparable Radiation and Gas Pressure

open access: yes, 2007
We explore the thermodynamic and global structural properties of a local patch of an accretion disk whose parameters were chosen so that radiation pressure and gas pressure would be comparable in magnitude.
