Fluctuations of the plasma potential in atmospheric pressure micro-plasma jets

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
Fluctuations in plasma floating potential in an atmospheric pressure micro-plasma jet are investigated experimentally. The transport of charged particles toward the ambient air is often seen to be affected by plasma fluctuations.

Non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma jet and its application for polymer treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma jet is a suitable source for polymer treatment. The main characteristic of this plasma jet is the remote operation and its scalable dimension, thus, allowing local treatment of 3D surfaces.

Electrical and Kinetic Model of an Atmospheric RF Device for Plasma Aerodynamics Applications

open access: yes, 2009
The asymmetrically mounted flat plasma actuator is studied using a self-consistent 2-DIM fluid model at atmospheric pressure. The computational model use the drift-diffusion approximation and a simple plasma phenomenological kinetic model.

Nitride‐Reinforced Metal Matrix Nanocomposite Powders Production by Plasma‐Assisted Thermochemical Treatment of Intermetallic Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes a new methodology for producing metal matrix nanocomposites in the solid state. The process involves the plasma‐assisted thermochemical treatment of metallic alloy powders. As a proof‐of‐concept, TiN nanoparticles are synthesized directly on the surface of FeTi intermetallic powder particles, enabling the development of the ...

Controlling surface properties of electrospun polyphenylsulfone using plasma treatment and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Plasma treatment is an efficient method to modify organic surfaces. In this work electrospun polyphenylsulfone was systematically subjected to low-pressure microwave plasma and atmospheric-pressure coplanar barrier discharge in order to control the ...

Definition of a New Level One Test Case Measurements of Equilibrium Radiation from an Inductively Coupled Plasma in the Near-UV to Near-IR Spectral Region for a Titan-Type N2-CH4 Mixture. Preliminary Results [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A test case, using a similar methodology and experimental set-up than previous test case TC5-Level 1 is presented in this paper. An inductively coupled plasma torch, working at atmospheric pressure, is used to create N2-CH4 Titan-like plasma (98%N2 - 2 ...

Plasma modification of poly lactic acid solutions to generate high quality electrospun PLA nanofibers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Physical properties of pre-electrospinning polymer solutions play a key role in electrospinning as they strongly determine the morphology of the obtained electrospun nanofibers. In this work, an atmospheric-pressure argon plasma directly submerged in the

Bimetallic (NiFe) and Trimetallic (NiFeCr) Nanoalloys from Metal Oxides Using a Microwave Hydrogen Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Bimetallic (NiFe) and trimetallic (NiFeCr) nanoalloys (NAs) are synthesized using corresponding oxide mixtures using microwave hydrogen plasma within a few milliseconds. The process simultaneously 1) reduces metal oxides to metals; 2) downsizes the particles from micrometers to nanometers; and 3) blends the metals to form NAs.

Thermoelectric Modules Incorporating MgAgSb and Mg3(Sb,Bi)2 Synthesized Using a Melting Method

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable synthesis method for a thermoelectric material of MgAgSb is established. A thermoelectric power module of MgAgSb/Mg3(Sb,Bi)2 is fabricated, showing the conversion efficiency of 7.4% at ΔT = 315 K. The performance is comparable to conventional Bi2Te3 modules when they are operated with an air‐cooled heat exchanger.
