Modelling of atmospheric boundary layer: Generation of shear. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Roughness length, z0 and friction velocity, u* are the defining parameters of wind log profile that must be matched in wind tunnel simulation. To fully understand the role of these parameters, the basics and review from the primitive equations and its ...

The Scaling Structure of the Velocity Statistics in Atmospheric Boundary Layer

open access: yes, 1999
The statistical objects characterizing turbulence in real turbulent flows differ from those of the ideal homogeneous isotropic model. They containcontributions from various 2d and 3d aspects, and from the superposition ofinhomogeneous and anisotropic ...

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

Evolution and meteorological causes of fine particulate explosive growth events in Beijing, China, from 2013 to 2017

open access: yesAtmospheric and Oceanic Science Letters, 2020
Based on online observations of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) for five consecutive years from January 2013 to December 2017 in Beijing, combined with simultaneous measurement of gaseous precursors and meteorological parameters, the evolution and ...

Modeling Ozone Source Apportionment and Performing Sensitivity Analysis in Summer on the North China Plain

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2020
In recent years, air quality issues due to fine particulate matter have been sufficiently treated. However, ozone (O3) has now become the primary pollutant in summer on the North China Plain (NCP).

Atmospheric boundary layer dynamics from balloon soundings worldwide : CLASS4GL v1.0 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The coupling between soil, vegetation and atmosphere is thought to be crucial in the development and intensification of weather extremes, especially meteorological droughts, heat waves and severe storms.

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

Multilevel Validation of Doppler Wind Lidar by the 325 m Meteorological Tower in the Planetary Boundary Layer of Beijing

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2020
The high-frequency monitoring of three-dimensional wind fields is crucial in planetary boundary layer meteorology. Doppler wind lidar and meteorological towers are the most important instruments for site observations of three-dimensional wind fields ...

Generation of attenuation corrected images from lidar data [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
The interpretation of data generated by aerosol backscatter lidars is often facilitated by presentation of RHI and PPI images. These pictures are especially useful in studies of atmospheric boundary layer structure where convective elements ...

Enhancing Optoelectronic Properties in Phthalocyanine‐Based SURMOFs: Synthesis of ABAB Linkers by Avoiding Statistical Condensation with Tailored Building Blocks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel phthalocyanine (PC)‐based metal–organic framework (MOFs) is synthesized using ditopic PC linkers obtained through regioselective statistical condensation. The resulting MOF exhibits significant improvements in electronic absorption, thereby enhancing the material's performance in light harvesting and energy conversion.
