Quantifying the Key Factors Affecting the Escape of Planetary Atmospheres

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
The habitability of Earth-like planets is an increasingly important subject in astrophysics and in planetary sciences. Atmospheric escape plays a vital role in the evolution of the habitability of Earth-like planets.

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Thermospheric mass density derived in near real time from space debris

open access: yesJournal of Space Weather and Space Climate
Near-Earth space is becoming increasingly congested. A rapid increase in the number of orbiting objects around Earth underscores the need for accurate tracking and prediction of space objects.

Future atmospheric CO2 leads to delayed autumnal senescence

open access: yes, 2007
Growing seasons are getting longer, a phenomenon partially explained by increasing global temperatures. Recent reports suggest that a strong correlation exists between warming and advances in spring phenology but that a weaker correlation is evident ...

Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Forward Simulation of X-Ray Transmittance Profiles in the Martian Atmosphere

open access: yesAtmosphere
The X-ray occultation technique has emerged as a novel remote sensing method for probing planetary neutral atmospheres, complementing traditional radio and ultraviolet stellar occultations.

Application of electronic and physical techniques to the study of short range atmospheric dispersion and related topics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Novel instrumental techniques have been conceived, developed and in one case, patented, which were employed to investigate various aspects of atmospheric dispersion and related topics. The first technique made use of unipolarly ionised air as the tracer '

Intercomparison of snow density measurements: bias, precision, and vertical resolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Density is a fundamental property of porous media such as snow. A wide range of snow properties and physical processes are linked to density, but few studies have addressed the uncertainty in snow density measurements.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.
