Atmospheric electrical field measurements near a fresh water reservoir and the formation of the lake breeze [PDF]
In order to access the effect of the lakes in the atmospheric electrical field, measurements have been carried out near a large man-made lake in southern Portugal, the Alqueva reservoir, during the ALqueva hydro-meteorological EXperiment 2014.

Study on the background characteristics of electric fields constrained by cross-sphere observations
The interactions among Earth’s spheres constitute both the starting point and ultimate goal of Earth system science research. An in-depth investigation into these interactions is essential for advancing the interdisciplinary integration and collaborative

Electric field of the undisturbed atmosphere in Tomsk
In the study, estimates of the variability of the surface electric field in undisturbed atmospheric conditions in Tomsk were obtained. It is noted, that the average and mode of the potential gradient in Tomsk under fair-weather conditions are ~280 and 250 V/m, and it is a typical range is 160–370 V/m.

A model study of corona emission from hydrometeors [PDF]
The maximum measured electric fields in thunderclouds are an order of magnitude less than the fields required for electric breakdown of the air. One explanation for lightning initiation in these low fields is that electric breakdown first occurs at the ...

Recurrent Coronal Jets Induced by Repetitively Accumulated Electric Currents [PDF]
Three extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) jets recurred in about one hour on 2010 September 17 in the following magnetic polarity of active region 11106. The EUV jets were observed by the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) on board the Solar Dynamics Observatory ...

Ohmic Dissipation in the Atmospheres of Hot Jupiters
Hot Jupiter atmospheres exhibit fast, weakly-ionized winds. The interaction of these winds with the planetary magnetic field generates drag on the winds and leads to ohmic dissipation of the induced electric currents.

An influence of the petrol pump for the atmospheric electric field distribution in the surroundings of the vehicles [PDF]
In this paper the potential and electric field distribution in the surroundings of the cargo vehicles is approximately numerically determined, when they are exposed to the Atmospheric Electric Field (AEF), having uniform intensity and vertical ...

Magnetic diffusion in solar atmosphere produces measurable electric fields
The efficient release of magnetic energy in astrophysical plasmas, such as during solar flares, can in principle be achieved through magnetic diffusion, at a rate determined by the associated electric field. However, attempts at measuring electric fields in the solar atmosphere are scarce, and none exist for sites where the magnetic energy is ...
