ATLAS 1: Encountering Planet Earth [PDF]

open access: yes
Several NASA science programs examine the dynamic balance of sunlight, atmosphere, water, land, and life that governs Earth's environment. Among these is a series of Space Shuttle-Spacelab missions, named the Atmospheric Laboratory for Applications and ...

GREAT/SOFIA atmospheric calibration

open access: yes, 2012
The GREAT observations need frequency-selective calibration across the passband for the residual atmospheric opacity at flight altitude. At these altitudes the atmospheric opacity has both narrow and broad spectral features.

Exploring Nasal Structural‐Microbial Interactions in Multiple Sclerosis‐Associated Olfactory Impairment

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Olfactory dysfunction is frequently observed in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS); however, its underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. To date, no studies have directly examined the nasal mucosal microbiota in MS. This study aimed to explore potential relationships among olfactory function, nasal microbiota composition,

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

3D In Vitro Models of Breast Cancer: Current Challenges and Future Prospects Toward Recapitulating the Microenvironment and Mimicking Key Processes

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
In vitro cancer models are advantageous for studying important processes such as tumorigenesis, cancer growth, invasion, and metastasis. The complexity and biological relevance increase depending on the model structure, organization, and composition of materials and cells.

Optimized Cell‐Based Platform for Platelet‐Free Detection of Heparin‐Induced Thrombocytopenia Antibodies

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
This study optimized a cell‐based ELISA for HIT antibody detection using PF4‐coated breast cancer cells (MDA‐MB‐231). Enhanced binding was observed at 50 mM NaCl and 4% paraformaldehyde fixation. Live MDA‐MB‐231 and HCT‐116 cells demontrated superior sensitivity and specificity, providing a promising platelet‐free alternative for clinical HIT diagnosis.
