CO Generation from CO2 Using an Atmospheric Microwave Plasma Process

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Due to the increasing concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere and the resulting man‐made climate change, alternatives to fossil fuels must be found. The chemical industry is looking for alternative processes. One promising possibility is atmospheric pressure microwave plasma, which converts CO2 into CO using electrical energy.

Plastic recycling: Challenges and opportunities

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This review offers an in‐depth exploration of current strategies for recycling plastic waste, focusing on mechanical, chemical, and energy recovery methods. It situates these strategies within the context of modern practices by examining ongoing research methodologies and specific case studies related to various types of plastic waste.

Simulation of atmospheric turbulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
A method is described for constructing an artificial temporal sequence of velocity values for simulating atmospheric turbulence. The method develops the conditional probability density distribution of velocity given that the previous value of velocity is known. A value is randomly selected from the conditional probability density which then serves as a

High-resolution speckle imaging through strong atmospheric turbulence.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2016
We demonstrate that high-resolution imaging through strong atmospheric turbulence can be achieved by acquiring data with a system that captures short exposure ("speckle") images using a range of aperture sizes and then using a bootstrap multi-frame blind

Synthesis of uniform core‐shell calcium hydroxide‐calcium carbonate biocidal particles via encapsulation into dry ice

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Synthesis of core‐shell calcium hydroxide‐calcium carbonate biocidal particles via encapsulation into dry ice. Abstract This study introduces a novel synthesis method for core‐shell calcium hydroxide‐calcium carbonate (CSCC) biocidal particles by inducing a phase change in liquid CO2$$ {\mathrm{CO}}_2 $$, thereby coating CaOH2$$ \mathrm{Ca}{\left ...

Analytical and numerical approaches to study echo laser pulse profile affected by target and atmospheric turbulence.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2016
The integrated model of echo laser pulse profile (ELPP) of a target with arbitrary shape is studied under the condition of the ELPP affected by target and atmospheric turbulence simultaneously. The ELPPs of four typical targets (a plane, a cone, a sphere

Valorization of Humins by Cyclic Levulinic Acid Production Using Polyoxometalates and Formic Acid

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
In this work, a new catalytic route for the effective utilization of humin byproducts, enabling a cyclic synthesis of levulinic acid (LA) using formic acid (FA) as organocatalyst is proposed. Selective catalytic oxidation (SCO) of humins using the H5PV2Mo10O40 (HPA‐2) polyoxometalatecatalyst produces FA that can be isolated from the aqueous reaction ...

Overestimation of closed-chamber soil CO 2 effluxes at low atmospheric turbulence

open access: yes, 2016
. Soil respiration (Rs) is an important component of ecosystem carbon balance, and accurate quantification of the diurnal and seasonal variation of Rs is crucial for a correct interpretation of the response of Rs to biotic and abiotic factors, as well as

Lidar Studies of Wind Turbulence in the Stable Atmospheric Boundary Layer

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
The kinetic energy of turbulence, the dissipation rate of turbulent energy, and the integral scale of turbulence in the stable atmospheric boundary layer at the location heights of low-level jets (LLJs) have been measured with a coherent Doppler light ...

Itinerant curriculum theory: People's theory against the field's epistemicidal ethos

open access: yesThe Curriculum Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract The field of curriculum studies suffers from a glaring theoretical impasse. Much of this impasse has been rightly attributed to the triumphalism of the neoliberal wave that has massacred the educational hemisphere with policies and practices that reduce pedagogy to an instrumentalist praxis directly associated with the thirsty desires and ...
