Variability in Atmospheric Dust Sampling

Transactions of the Kansas Academy of Science (1903-), 1969
Several analyses of variance tests were performed on data obtained from a dust collection network. The results indicate that very careful attention to design of the system, strict control of modifying influences, and close adherence to rigid collection and analytical procedure are necessary for duplicable results to be recorded.

Atmospheric Circulation and Climatic Variability

2007
Regional variations in South America’s weather and climate reflect the atmospheric circulation over the continent and adjacent oceans, involving mean climatic conditions and regular cycles, as well as their variability on timescales ranging from less than a few months to longer than a year. Rather than surveying mean climatic conditions and variability

Variability of Supergiant Atmospheres

1980
Many if not all supergiants show signs of variability, which is another indication of the instable character of these very extended atmospheres. Most of the variations are of a small amplitude and have a more or less erratic character, but a ‘ characteristic period’ is often detectable.

Atmospheric Ozone and Solar Variability

Nature, 1927
IT has been known for a long time that variations in the annual mean values of the daily magnetic range were closely related to variations in the annual sunspot numbers. During recent months a number of other widely different terrestrial phenomena have been found correlated to some extent, at least, with solar changes and with each other.

Global variability of atmospheric ozone

Journal of Interdisciplinary Cycle Research, 1977
Interest in ozone research has been stimulated in recent years due to the increased concern over possible adverse effects of human activities on the global climate. Although the implications of a probable anthropogenic variation of ozone layer are not well-understood as yet, it is legitimate to say that this is a matter.not only of scientific concern ...

Extratropical Atmosphere–Ocean Variability in CCSM3

Journal of Climate, 2006
Abstract Extratropical atmosphere–ocean variability over the Northern Hemisphere of the Community Climate System Model version 3 (CCSM3) is examined and compared to observations. Results are presented for an extended control integration with a horizontal resolution of T85 (1.4°) for the atmosphere and land and ∼1° for the ocean and sea ...

Atmospheric Variability and Climatic Determinism

Yearbook of the Association of Pacific Coast Geographers, 1968
development. The late William E Petersen characterized the barometric varia bility over the North American continent as the "footprint of As clepius." To him the concentration of the great storm tracks along the northern border of the United States was a portrayal of the areas of maximal meteorological demand on the organism. The chart of a single year

Statistical Properties of Mid-latitude Atmospheric Variability

2007
This chapter wishes to propose a description of the statistical properties of mid-latitude atmospheric waves for observational data-sets and state-of-the-arts climate models simulations. Therefore, a non-linear theory, accounting for a relevant part of the mid-latitude variability, has been revised in terms of its signature in observational and model ...

The Variability of Particulate Atmospheres

1990
Inhalation Toxicologists accept that there will be variations in the physical nature of test aerosols which cannot be readily attributed to any single cause. The performance of a chamber suitable for the containment of a particulate atmosphere has been assessed across a range of inlet designs and operating conditions.

Variability of near-ground atmospheric aerosol

Journal of Aerosol Science, 1991
Abstract Variability of aerosol in the diameter region 0.01 to 10 μm was analysed on the basis of natural measurements carried out in various conditions. Fluctuations of particle number concentrations and residence times of aerosol fractions were investigated, their dependence on particle size was identified.
