Designing New Metal Chalcogenide Nanoclusters Through Atom-by-Atom Substitution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Here, we report the first study focused on atom-by-atom substitution of Fe and Ni to the core of a well-defined cobalt sulfide superatom ligated with triethylphosphine,[Co5MS8(PEt3)6]+ (M=Fe, Ni).

Diagnostic Accuracy of Utilizing Artificial Intelligence for Malaria Diagnostic: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

open access: yesInfectious Disease Reports
Background: Malaria remains a major public health concern around the world. Microscopic blood smear examination continues to be the gold standard for diagnosis; however, it requires high technical skills and expertise, limiting diagnostic accuracy in ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

The therapeutic opportunities and pitfalls of using iron ion chelators to treat neurodegenerative diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Although too much iron in the brain promotes neurodegeneration, iron ion chelators have had mixed effects in clinical trials. This review explains why; some chelators do not render the iron redox‐inactive (e.g., L1) whereas others do (e.g., desferrioxamine).

Atom-Based Bootstrap Embedding For Molecules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Recent developments in quantum embedding have offered an attractive approach to describing electron correlation in molecules. However, previous methods such as density matrix embedding theory (DMET) require rigid partitioning of the system into fragments,

Quand un sociologue révèle à un physicien ce que sont les atomes

open access: yesRevue d'anthropologie des connaissances
Bruno Latour has profoundly transformed my vision of science, and more specifically my vision of atoms. Once particles that represented the profound reality of matter, atoms became the specific way in which physicists had tamed matter in order to ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
