Laser Atom Probe Tomography: some applications

2006 19th International Vacuum Nanoelectronics Conference, 2006
Laser atom probe tomography was used to investigate the inter-diffusive reactions at the silicon-nickel interface. The early stages of formation of a NiSi silicide was studied. The addition of Pt was shown to increase the temperature of formation of the high resistivity NiSi2 phase by approximately 150 ...

Modeling Atom Probe Tomography: A review

Ultramicroscopy, 2015
Improving both the precision and the accuracy of Atom Probe Tomography reconstruction requires a correct understanding of the imaging process. In this aim, numerical modeling approaches have been developed for 15 years. The injected ingredients of these modeling tools are related to the basic physic of the field evaporation mechanism.

Atom probe tomography for biomaterials and biomineralization

Acta Biomaterialia, 2022
Biominerals and biomaterials are part of our daily lives, from our skeleton and teeth to coral reefs and carbon-capturing single-cell organisms in the oceans, to engineered ceramics comprising our toothpaste and bone replacements. Many biominerals are hierarchically structured with remarkable material properties that arise from their unique combination

An Atom-Probe Tomography Primer

MRS Bulletin, 2009
AbstractAtom-probe tomography (APT) is in the midst of a dynamic renaissance as a result of the development of well-engineered commercial instruments that are both robust and ergonomic and capable of collecting large data sets, hundreds of millions of atoms, in short time periods compared to their predecessor instruments.

Atom Probe Tomography of Encapsulated Hydroxyapatite Nanoparticles

Small Methods, 2020
AbstractHydroxyapatite nanoparticles (HAP NPs) are important for medicine, bioengineering, catalysis, and water treatment. However, current understanding of the nanoscale phenomena that confer HAP NPs their many useful properties is limited by a lack of information about the distribution of the atoms within the particles.

Atom probe tomography of isoferroplatinum

American Mineralogist, 2015
Here we apply the relatively new analytical technique of atom probe tomography (APT) to a naturally occurring isoferroplatinum grain (Pt3Fe) from northern California to constrain its origin and the nanoscale distribution of trace elements within the grain.

Point process statistics in atom probe tomography

Ultramicroscopy, 2013
We present a review of spatial point processes as statistical models that we have designed for the analysis and treatment of atom probe tomography (APT) data. As a major advantage, these methods do not require sampling. The mean distance to nearest neighbour is an attractive approach to exhibit a non-random atomic distribution.

Spatial Distribution Maps for Atom Probe Tomography

Microscopy and Microanalysis, 2007
A real-space technique for finding structural information in atom probe tomographs, spatial distribution maps (SDM), is described. The mechanics of the technique are explained, and it is then applied to some test cases. Many applications of SDM in atom probe tomography are illustrated with examples including finding crystal lattices, correcting lattice
