Entanglement concentration with quantum nondemolition Hamiltonians
We also acknowledge an EU grant under the FET-Open project COMPAS (No. 212008) and are grateful for the support of the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA).We devise and examine two procrustean entanglement concentration schemes using quantum ...

Two nitrogen‐doped 2D conjugated metal‐organic frameworks (2D c‐MOFs, namely Cu‐Nx‐OHBA, x = 2 or 4) are synthesized, featuring precise nitrogen incorporation via rational ligand design. The Cu‐Nx‐OHBA 2D c‐MOFs are largely tailorable by varying skeletal nitrogen density, with respect to electrical conductivity, Li‐storage capacitance, and Li‐transport

Models of wave-function collapse, underlying theories, and experimental tests
We describe the state of the art in preparing, manipulating and detecting coherent molecular matter. We focus on experimental methods for handling the quantum motion of compound systems from diatomic molecules to clusters or biomolecules.Molecular ...

Unraveling the Electronic Structure of Silicon Vacancy Centers in 4H‐SiC
The electronic structure of the silicon vacancy in 4H‐SiC is probed via transient absorption spectroscopy, uncovering previously inaccessible excited states of the quartet and doublet spin channels, including the V2' transition. In combination with theoretical analysis, a comprehensive picture of the electronic structure is established.

Single‐crystal gold microplates are high‐performance nanomaterials with an impressive wafer‐based application space. Progress has, however, been tempered by an inability to exert synthetic control over microplate size, shape, and positioning. In this work, control over these parameters is demonstrated using a seed‐mediated synthesis that both confines ...

Absolute Absorption and Dispersion in a Thermal Rb Vapour at High Densities and High Magnetic Fields. [PDF]
This thesis presents a comparative study of the measured and calculated absolute absorption and dispersion properties of the Rb D lines through a dense thermal vapour in the absence and presence of an applied magnetic field.

Designed Lewis Acid–Base Passivation for High Performance Perovskite Solar Cells
ABSTRACT Silicon's high cost and long energy payback time remain major barriers to the global expansion of solar power. In contrast, metal–halide perovskites offer abundant, solution‐processable absorbers, and have achieved efficiencies of 25%–30%, positioning them as strong competitors to silicon.

Atom guiding in free-space light beams and photonic crystal fibres
In this thesis I describe experimental work and present data on the guiding of Rubidium atoms along free-space propagating light beams as well as within hollow core glass fibres, namely photonic crystal fibres.

Chiral Phase Change Nanomaterials
This work demonstrates reversible, non‐volatile phase transitions in chiral Ge2${\rm Ge}_2$Sb2${\rm Sb}_2$Te5${\rm Te}_5$ (GST) nanohelices for high‐speed optical modulation of chirality and dynamic control of the state of polarization (SOP). The chiral nanostructures are fabricated using a highly directional, wafer‐scale physical vapor deposition ...

We propose a method for generating an optical Schrodinger-cat-like state in a cavity in a substantial decoherence regime. Even when the cavity decay rate is considerably large, a cat-like state can be generated in a laser-like setting if the gain for the
