Normalization of the single atom counting rate in an atom trap
Optics Letters, 2012The single atom counting rate of a rare isotope and the loading rate of another stable isotope with an abundance over 10 orders of magnitude larger are measured in one atom trap. The linear correlation between the measured counting/loading rates is examined to determine the (84)Kr/(82)Kr and (85)Kr/(83)Kr ratios of a Kr gas sample.

Modeling of atomization rate during gas atomization
Acta Materialia, 1998Abstract A mathematical model provides the tools to compute the atomization rate from the backpressure, and the height of the descending liquid head and the amount of the over-pressure required as the functions of the atomization time. The computed data agree reasonably well with the experimental data.

Semiempirical Model for Atom–Atom Ionization Rates
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1969Numerical calculations are carried out to help interpret ionization rates for rare-gas atoms (particularly argon) obtained in shock-heating experiments. A simplified semiempirical model with three adjustable parameters is used for electronic transitions induced by atom–atom collisions.

Rate of aerodynamic atomization of droplets
Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1965A TOMIZATION of large liquid droplets subjected to high ^J^relative gas velocities is of interest to the field of liquid propellant combustion and instability processes, which occur in rocket engines. It is desirable to have quantitative information for the time rate of mass loss from the droplet as a function of the gas stream and droplet ...

Force Dependence of Transition Rates in Atomic Friction
Physical Review Letters, 2006The lateral forces during stick-slip motion of an atomic force microscope cantilever on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite are measured and analyzed. We identify the regimes where thermally activated interstitial hopping of the cantilever tip proceeds according to a single-step reaction scheme and extract the corresponding force-dependent transition ...
