Exercise Intervention for REM Sleep Behavior Disorder in Parkinson's Disease: Mechanisms and Implications for Neurorehabilitation

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review systematically explores exercise as a multi‐target intervention for RBD, highlighting its mechanisms of action and regulatory effects on key pathophysiological processes. ABSTRACT Backgrounds REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) is a prodromal non‐motor symptom of Parkinson's disease (PD) and other α‐synucleinopathies, affecting approximately ...

Bilateral ictal eye closure in focal epileptic seizures: SEEG retrospective observational assessment from a tertiary epilepsy center

open access: yesEpileptic Disorders, Volume 28, Issue 3, Page 868-877, June 2026.
Abstract Ictal eye closure is commonly associated with functional seizures but may also occur in epileptic seizures. We retrospectively reviewed 113 consecutive stereo‐EEG (SEEG) recordings from adults with drug‐resistant focal epilepsy (2015–2024) to identify prolonged bilateral eye closure during seizures.

Self‐limited neonatal epilepsy with 2q24.3 duplications: Case series and literature review

open access: yesEpileptic Disorders, Volume 28, Issue 3, Page 878-883, June 2026.
Abstract Objective To clarify the phenotypic spectrum associated with duplications involving the 2q24.3 region, which includes a cluster of genes encoding sodium channel subunits (SCN1A, SCN2A, SCN3A, SCN7A, and SCN9A). Methods We reviewed our research database for patients with epilepsy and 2q24.3 duplication and performed thorough phenotyping.

Beyond Broca and Wernicke: Epilepsy surgery in the language areas

open access: yesEpileptic Disorders, Volume 28, Issue 3, Page 581-601, June 2026.
Abstract Epilepsy surgery in language areas is challenged by the intricacies of presurgical workup and surgical planning. In recent decades, the view of language‐related circuitry has shifted from being localized in a few cortical centers to a distributed, dynamically interconnected system, increasing complexity.

Bidirectional sleep‐seizure interactions and orexin in a mouse model of tuberous sclerosis complex‐related epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia, Volume 67, Issue 6, Page 3108-3121, June 2026.
Abstract Objective A strong bidirectional relationship exists between epilepsy and sleep, with seizures often occurring more frequently in sleep and, in turn, sleep being disrupted by seizures. However, the mechanistic basis of seizure–sleep interactions is poorly understood.
