Genome‐Wide Association Study Elucidates the Genetic Architecture of Manganese Tolerance in Brassica napus

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Brassica napus (canola) is a significant contributor to the world's oil production and is cultivated across continents, yet acidic soils with aluminium (Al3+) and manganese (Mn2+) toxicities limit its production. The genetic determinants underlying natural variation for acidic soil tolerance in canola are unknown and need to be determined ...

Photodynamic priming overcomes platinum resistance from short‐term exposure to select perfluoroalkyl substances in endometrial cancer cell lines

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
PFAS are widespread environmental contaminants that are associated with platinum resistance and mitochondrial membrane hyperpolarization in endometrial cancer cell lines. Photodynamic therapy, using BPD or ALA‐PpIX, in combination with low‐dose carboplatin overcomes PFAS‐induced platinum resistance in endometrial cancer cell lines.

Time‐series multi‐omics analysis of micronutrient stress in Sorghum bicolor reveals iron and zinc crosstalk and regulatory network conservation

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Overlap between Fe and Zn responsive gene regulatory networks (GRNs) were found, indicative of micronutrient crosstalk, and conservation of root and leaf GRNs and genes suggests strong constraint on homeostasis networks in plants. Abstract Micronutrient stress impacts growth, biomass production, and grain yield in crops.

Overexpression of jojoba wax ester synthase in poplar increases foliar lipid accumulation, alters stomatal conductance, and increases water use efficiency

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of jojoba wax ester synthase in poplar causes accumulation of intracellular lipids in leaves and reduced stomatal conductance with higher water‐use efficiencies in the transgenic lines. Abstract Poplars are important fast‐growing, water‐spending biomass tree crops.

Genetic risk variants implicate impaired maintenance and repair of periodontal tissues as causal for periodontitis—A synthesis of recent findings

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
AbstractPeriodontitis is a complex inflammatory disease in which the host genome, in conjunction with extrinsic factors, determines susceptibility and progression. Genetic predisposition is the strongest risk factor in the first decades of life. As people age, chronic exposure to the periodontal microbiome puts a strain on the proper maintenance of ...

Expanding the Spectrum of Canine Diffuse Large B‐Cell Lymphoma Genetic Aberrations Through Whole Genome Sequencing Analysis

open access: yesVeterinary and Comparative Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is one of the most prevalent haematological malignancies in both humans and dogs, characterised in both species by significant clinical heterogeneity and limited prognostic predictability. With the introduction of next‐generation sequencing (NGS) technologies in veterinary medicine over the past decade ...
