Cardiac rhythm in atrial isomerism
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1987Standard electrocardiograms from 126 consecutive patients with atrial isomerism were reviewed. Of 67 patients with left isomerism, 49 had sinus rhythm, 8 nodal rhythm and 10 atrioventricular (AV) block. Fifty-eight of 59 patients with right isomerism had sinus rhythm.

Isomerism of the Atrial Appendages in the Fetus
Pediatric Pathology, 1991Thirty hearts from fetuses with visceral heterotaxy were examined to determine the range of cardiac malformations. By examining the morphology of the atrial appendages, 20 hearts were identified as having left isomerism (67%) and 10 hearts right isomerism (33%).

Isomerism of the atrial appendages: morphology and terminology
Cardiovascular Pathology, 2020Our aim is to identify the pathognomonic anatomical markers and the best terminology to describe the cardiac malformations associated with absent or multiple spleens, which are known as asplenia or polysplenia syndromes or isomerism. We have reviewed 65 hearts with isomerism of atrial appendages of the Anatomical Collections of Congenital Heart Disease,

Diagnosis and significance of atrial isomerism
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1986Fifty-one patients at the Brompton Hospital were identified as having either right or left atrial isomerism by reviewing the records and catheterization, echocardiographic and, in 17 cases, autopsy data. Every study patient had 1 or more of the following conditions: isomeric bronchial anatomy; angiographic or necropsy evidence of atrial anatomy ...

Atrial isomerism: A pictorial review
Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, 2012This review describes the broad spectrum of findings found in atrial isomerism, suggesting a sequential approach to image evaluation, and illustrates the most common situs disorders, for example, polysplenia and asplenia.

Identification and analysis of left atrial isomerism
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1987The veno-atrial connections, atrial morphology, atrioventricular (AV) junction, ventricular mass, ventriculoarterial (VA) connection and great arteries in 22 autopsied hearts, diagnosed as having bilateral left-sidedness because of the morphology of the atrial appendages, were studied.

Biventricular Repair for Right Atrial Isomerism
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2006Biventricular repair is often difficult to accomplish in patients with right atrial isomerism because of complex anomalous structures.Ten patients with right atrial isomerism underwent biventricular repair. Their ages ranged from 15 months to 21 years. The follow-up period ranged from 1 month to 21 years.

Prenatal diagnosis of left atrial isomerism
Heart, 2009Objective: To describe the cardiac anomalies and outcome in the fetus with left atrial isomerism. Methods: All fetuses with a diagnosis of left atrial isomerism between 1998 and 2008 were identified.

Right Atrial Isomerism in Four Siblings
Pediatric Cardiology, 2004Heterotaxy syndromes, right or left atrial isomerism, result from disruption of left-right axis determination and their manifestations include complicated heart defects. Recent studies in model organisms have revealed complex genetic pathways and several genes involved in this process.

Outcome of Left Atrial Isomerism at a Single Institution
Pediatric Cardiology, 2012Left atrial isomerism includes a complex spectrum of cardiac and extracardiac anomalies. The records of all patients with left isomerism born during the period of 1973-2010 and treated at the Children's Hospital, Helsinki were reviewed. The short- and long-term outcomes were studied. The review included 38 patients (50% females).
