ABSTRACT Backgrounds Guidelines for fasting before procedural sedation aim to prevent pulmonary aspiration and are primarily targeted for deep sedation. Our study explored whether a shortened fasting protocol is noninferior to the standard protocol by comparing gastric contents evaluated by ultrasound.
