Systematic Analysis of Gene Expression Differences between Left and Right Atria in Different Mouse Strains and in Human Atrial Tissue [PDF]
Background: Normal development of the atria requires left-right differentiation during embryonic development. Reduced expression of Pitx2c (paired-like homeodomain transcription factor 2, isoform c), a key regulator of left-right asymmetry, has recently ...

ABSTRACT The case regards a 73‐year‐old male who was referred for consideration of percutaneous left atrial appendage closure. His left atrial appendage was ligated during prior mitral valve surgery, but was noted to be patent on a recent transesophageal echocardiography. An Amulet device was selected based on CT planning.

Conventional clinical trials remain the benchmark for evaluating therapeutic safety and efficacy, yet they are constrained by escalating costs, withdrawal over the extended follow‐up periods, recruitment difficulties, ethical limits, and a restricted ability to characterize heterogeneous populations.

Managing atrial fibrillation in the global community: The European perspective. [PDF]
Atrial fibrillation is a common, global problem, with great personal, economic and social burdens. As populations age it increases in prevalence and becomes another condition that requires careful chronic management to ensure its effects are minimised ...

Abstract Wild‐type transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTRwt‐CM) is a progressive and infiltrative cardiac disorder that may cause fatal consequences if left untreated. The estimated survival time from diagnosis is approximately 3–6 years. Because of the non‐specificity of initial symptom manifestation and insufficient awareness among treating ...

Cardiac adrenergic control and atrial fibrillation [PDF]
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia, and it causes substantial mortality. The autonomic nervous system, and particularly the adrenergic/cholinergic balance, has a profound influence on the occurrence of AF ...

Cardiac remodelling in the era of the recommended four pillars heart failure medical therapy
Abstract Cardiac remodelling is a key determinant of worse cardiovascular outcome in patients with heart failure (HF) and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). It affects both the left ventricle (LV) structure and function as well as the left atrium (LA) and the right ventricle (RV).

The effects of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors on the ‘forgotten’ right ventricle
Abstract With the progress in diagnosis, treatment and imaging techniques, there is a growing recognition that impaired right ventricular (RV) function profoundly affects the prognosis of patients with heart failure (HF), irrespective of their left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).
