Second-Degree Atrioventricular Block With Steroid-Induced Diabetes Mellitus in a Miniature Poodle. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Med Sci
This report presents a case of Mobitz Type II second‐degree atrioventricular block in a Miniature Poodle with prednisolone‐induced diabetic ketosis. Treatment with porcine lente insulin led to clinical improvement, stable blood glucose curve, normal ketone levels and resolution of the atrioventricular block.

Reversing Blood Flows Act through klf2a to Ensure Normal Valvulogenesis in the Developing Heart [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Heart valve anomalies are some of the most common congenital heart defects, yet neither the genetic nor the epigenetic forces guiding heart valve development are well understood.

Reoperations for left atrioventricular valve dysfunction after repair of atrioventricular septal defect.

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2014
OBJECTIVES Postoperative left atrioventricular valve (LAVV) dysfunction is known to be the principal risk factor influencing outcome after repair of all types of atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD).

Mortality risk stratification for Takotsubo syndrome: Evaluating CRP measurement alongside the InterTAK prognostic score

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1427-1436, April 2025.
Abstract Background and objectives Initially described as a benign acute cardiomyopathy, Takotsubo syndrome has been linked to elevated mortality rates. Emerging evidence suggests that unresolved myocardial inflammation may contribute to this adverse prognosis.

Understanding atrioventricular septal defect: Anatomoechocardiographic correlation

open access: yesCardiovascular Ultrasound, 2008
Objective Correlate the anatomic features of atrioventricular septal defect with echocardiographic images. Materials and methods Sixty specimen hearts were studied by sequential segmental analysis. Echocardiograms were performed on 34 patients.

Graves’ Disease Presenting with Complete Atrioventricular Block

open access: yesCase Reports in Endocrinology, 2020
Hyperthyroidism commonly causes tachyarrhythmias such as sinus tachycardia and atrial fibrillation. Impaired atrioventricular conduction is a very rare complication of hyperthyroidism.

Cilostazol in patients with heart failure and preserved ejection fraction—The CLIP‐HFpEF trial

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1437-1446, April 2025.
• Cilostazol is an oral PDE‐3 inhibitor that may have advantageous effects in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). • Cilostazol significantly improved short‐term heart failure‐related health status scores (KCCQ‐12) and NT‐proBNP levels when compared to placebo.

O efeito da morfina na inibição vagal do coração: demonstração da dupla via do nodo atrioventricular = The effect of morphine on vagal inhibition of the heart: demonstration of dual atrioventricular nodal pathways

open access: yesActa Scientiarum. Health Sciences, 2006
A estimulação elétrica do nervo vago diminui a freqüência cardíaca e aumenta o intervalo PQ no eletrocardiograma, podendo ativar a via anterógrada do nodo atrioventricular.
