Hemodynamic Significance of APEXCT Coronary Angiography Combined With Dynamic CT Myocardial Perfusion Imaging in Assessing Restenosis After Coronary Stenting

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the hemodynamic significance of in‐stent restenosis (ISR) by using a combined anatomical‐functional approach with photon‐counting CT coronary angiography (APEX‐CT CTA) and dynamic CT myocardial perfusion imaging (CT‐MPI). We prospectively enrolled 239 symptomatic patients at least 9 months after PCI.

Impact of untreated hypothyroidism on the cardiac conduction system: A case report and review of pathophysiology [PDF]

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Medical Practice
Background. Third-degree atrioventricular (AV) block, also referred as complete heart block, results from the complete disruption of impulse transmission between the atria and ventricles, leading to desynchronized electrical activity.

Complete atrioventricular block associated with rivastigmine therapy

open access: yes, 2008
Purpose. A case of complete atrioventricular block associated with rivastigmine use is presented. Summary. A 67-year-old Turkish woman with Alzheimer's disease was admitted to the hospital because of dizziness and syncope.

Plasma Lidocaine Concentrations During Intravenous Lidocaine Infusion Therapy in the Pediatric Population—A Scoping Review

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Intravenous lidocaine therapy (IVLT) is often used in perioperative multimodal analgesia due to its analgesic, anti‐hyperalgesic, and anti‐inflammatory effects. In adults, IVLT doses of 1–2 mg/kg/h produce plasma concentrations of 1–2 μg/mL, within the presumed therapeutic range of 1–5 μg/mL.

Permanent pacemaker implantation for atrioventricular block secondary to acute pancreatitis in a patient affected by panhypopituitarism

open access: yesThe Egyptian Heart Journal
Background Hypopituitarism may trigger the development of acute pancreatitis (AP) through multiple mechanisms. AP may alter normal intracardiac conduction leading to an atrioventricular block.

Complete atrioventricular block associated with not apical but midventricular ballooning

open access: yes, 2013
An 86-year-old woman was admitted to hospital with a head injury secondary to an episode of syncope associated with incontinence. Electrocardiography showed complete atrioventricular block, giant negative T waves in the precordial leads, and QT interval ...

Cardiac resynchronization therapy and pulmonary artery banding in advanced heart failure infants with left ventricular dilated cardiomyopathy and left bundle branch block

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, EarlyView.
The combination of cardiac resynchronization therapy and pulmonary artery banding was associated with substantial improvement in advanced heart failure infants with left ventricular dilated cardiomyopathy and left bundle branch block. Most patients exhibited marked improvement in clinical status and ventricular function, along with a reduction in QRS ...

Exercise-induced distal atrioventricular block

open access: yes, 1983
Three patients with 1:1 atrioventricular (AV) conduction at rest developed fixed 2:1 or 3:1 AV block during treadmill exercise testing. Electrophysiologic study documented block distal to the AV node in all three patients, and suggested that the exercise-

How to facilitate ultrasound examination of the fetal heart: the 5‐4‐3‐2‐1 method

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We propose a new standardized, systematic method of fetal cardiac screening, the step‐by‐step ‘5‐4‐3‐2‐1’ method. This method is based on understanding the cardiac structures through a process of navigating between the different recommended views during an abdominothoracic sweep, following a user‐friendly checklist to identify the main ...
