Mesothelioma (Coelothelioma) of the Atrioventricular Node
Chest, 1971This is the 12th reported case of benign mesothelioma of the atrioventricular (AV) node, studied both clinically and pathologically. In this case, serial sections were done throughout the entire conduction system. The patient clinically showed AV block with a nodal pacemaker.

Reconstruction of the human atrioventricular node
The Anatomical Record, 1967AbstractThe right atrioventricular junction and A‐V node area in each of five human hearts was studied histologically in serial sections. The A‐V node of a 54‐year old female was reconstructed in four colors to provide a three‐dimensional model of cardiac relationships, blood supply, and nodal configuration.

Vagally induced hyperpolarization in atrioventricular node
American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1986The effects of postganglionic vagal stimulation on atrioventricular nodal conduction were studied in 12 rabbit atrial-atrioventricular nodal preparations. Vagal stimulation was introduced in the sinus and atrioventricular nodes, separately or in combination, using single bursts of subthreshold stimuli.

Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1993
The anatomical substrate for atrioventricular (AV) node reentry is unclear. To gain insights into the mechanism of cure of AV node reentry by nonpharmacological techniques, we compared AV node properties in 53 patients undergoing operative therapy (perinodal dissection) and 43 undergoing radiofrequency ablation (28 posterior approach, 15 anterior ...

Effect of Dual Atrioventricular Node Pathways on Atrioventricular Reentrant Tachycardia
Circulation, 1995Background Dual atrioventricular (AV) node pathway physiology is frequently observed in patients with AV accessory pathways. Methods and Results To examine the implications of this, we identified 36 patients (19 men and 17 women; mean±SD age, 30±13 years) with both phenomena. The 36

Connexins in the Sinoatrial and Atrioventricular Nodes
2006The sinoatrial node (SAN) and the atrioventricular node (AVN) are specialized tissues in the heart: the SAN is specialized for pacemaking (it is the pacemaker of the heart), whereas the AVN is specialized for slow conduction of the action potential (to introduce a delay between atrial and ventricular activation during the cardiac cycle).

Models of the Atrioventricular Node
1992The mechanism of the ventricular response in atrial fibrillation has long been a puzzle, the answer to which lies in the working of the atrioventricular node. Any attempted solution must be consistent with, and preferably also illuminate, the known behaviour of the atrioventricular node in sinus rhythm.
