[Atrophic glossitis is attributed to cobalamin deficiency].
Shanghai kou qiang yi xue = Shanghai journal of stomatology, 2015To analyze the causes of atrophic glossitis(AG) and to explore the relationship between AG and serum cobalamin, folate levels.A total of 213 patients with AG treated from Jan.1979 to Jun. 2010 were analyzed for the causes of AG. Serum cobalamin, folate levels and complete blood count were tested in newly enrolled AG patients from Sep. 2010 to Aug. 2011.

Nutritional correlates of atrophic glossitis: possible role of vitamin E in papillary atrophy.
Journal of the American College of Nutrition, 1993Atrophy of the filiform papillae of the tongue is a sign of malnutrition. However, papillary atrophy has not been correlated with laboratory indices of nutritional status. We studied photographs of tongues from 30 elderly subjects and determined the percentage of normal papillary development (%NPD) relative to a reference photograph. We also determined

Iron status in atrophic glossitis: a pilot study.
Wisconsin medical journal, 1994We studied the relationship between laboratory markers of iron status and atrophic glossitis diagnosed clinically and documented with photographs. Nine subjects with glossitis underwent determination of CBC, ferritin, iron, and iron binding capacity. Five of the subjects had laboratory evidence suggesting iron deficiency.

To investigate the correlation between epidermal growth factor (EFG) and atrophic glossitis (AG) in patients with Sjoigren's syndromes (SS) and explore its pathogenesis.Ninety-three patients with SS (60 with AG and 33 without AG) and 20 normal were selected. The concentrations of EGF in saliva were analyzed by ELISA.
