Protein–polymer hybrids: Conducting ARGET ATRP from a genetically encoded cleavable ATRP initiator

European Polymer Journal, 2013
Abstract Protein–polymer hybrids are an important class of biomaterials. Described is the preparation of a genetically incorporated a non-canonical amino acid (nCAA) containing an ester linked atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) initiator, followed by a controlled “grafting from” polymerization.

Comparative Study on Surface-Initiated ATRP and SI-ARGET ATRP of Oligo(Ethylene Glycol) Methacrylate on Gold

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2016
Oligo(ethylene glycol) methacrylate (OEGMA) was polymerized from a polymerization initiator-presenting gold substrate by Activator ReGenerated by Electron Transfer Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ARGET ATRP) in water. Compared with the normal surface-initiated ATRP (SI-ATRP), SI-ARGET ATRP of OEGMA proceeded smoothly in the presence of air with L-

Studies on Photoinduced ATRP in the Presence of Photoinitiator

Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics, 2011
Photoinduced reverse and simultaneous reverse and normal initiation (SR&NI) atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of methyl methacrylate are investigated. Compared to the photoinduced reverse ATRP, SR&NI ATRP allows for better control over molecular weight with narrow molecular weight distributions.

Linear Gradient Quality of ATRP Copolymers

Macromolecules, 2012
The linear gradient quality and the control over chain length and end-group functionality in the copolymerization of acrylates, methacrylates, and styrenes via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) are evaluated by detailed kinetic Monte Carlo simulations with explicit tracking of macromolecules.

Synthesis of degradable polyHIPEs by AGET ATRP

Polymer, 2013
Abstract Conditions to synthesize a degradable polymerized high internal phase emulsion (PolyHIPE) by a controlled radical polymerization (CRP) method, atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), have been developed for the first time. Activators generated by electron transfer (AGET) ATRP were used to copolymerize 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate (EHMA ...

Alkylation of polyethyleneimine for homogeneous ligands in ATRP

Polymer, 2011
Abstract Ethylated and butylated polyethyleneimine ligands were synthesized and employed in copper catalyzed atom transfer radical polymerization of styrene and methyl methacrylate with suitable initiators in order to obtain homogeneous polymerizations, resulting in well defined polymers with low polydispersities.

Synthesis of polyacrylonitrile using AGET-ATRP in emulsion

Materials Science and Engineering: C, 2013
The technique of activators generated by electron transfer for atom transfer radical polymerization (AGET-ATRP) of acrylonitrile (AN) has been first attempted in emulsion using the procedure of "one-pot", "two-step" with polyethylene glycol monooleyl ether (Brij 35) as surfactant, cupric chloride (CuCl2) as catalyst, hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) as ...

Graft Copolymers Attained by ATRP and ADMET

2003
The history of olefin metathesis dates back to over 50 years ago with the advent of Ziegler-Natta transition metal catalysts for olefin polymerization.1 In turn, it has developed into a useful modern synthetic tool of specialty polymers, fine chemicals, natural products which continues to be developed for several other applications.

Cell-Adhesive Star Polymers Prepared by ATRP

Biomacromolecules, 2009
This study presents the synthesis and evaluation of cell adhesive poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) star polymers for potential biomedical applications. Star polymers with a size of approximately 20 nm and with relatively low polydispersities (M(w)/M(n) ≤ 1.6), containing GRGDS (Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser) segments, were prepared by atom transfer radical ...
