Abstract The relationship between terpene content in Pinus caribaea needles and Atta laevigata herbivory was examined. Analysis of newly defoliated (foraged) pines revealed that the concentrations of myrcene and caryophyllene were lower than in undefoliated (non-foraged) trees.
