Attack as Detection: Using Adversarial Attack Methods to Detect Abnormal Examples

open access: yesACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology
As a new programming paradigm, deep learning (DL) has achieved impressive performance in areas such as image processing and speech recognition, and has expanded its application to solve many real-world problems. However, neural networks and DL are normally black-box systems; even worse, DL-based software are vulnerable to threats from ...

Posterior Cortical Atrophy in the Asia‐Pacific: A Report From the PCA Asian Workgroup

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA) is a distinct dementia syndrome primarily affecting spatial abilities and visual processing. It is associated with degeneration in the posterior part of the brain. PCA is subclassified into PCA‐pure and PCA‐plus syndromes based on consensus criteria.

Multidimensional Profiling of MRI‐Negative Temporal Lobe Epilepsy Uncovers Distinct Phenotypes

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Although hippocampal sclerosis (TLE‐HS) represents the most frequent cause of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), up to 30% of patients show no lesion on visual MRI inspection (TLE‐MRIneg). These cases pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges and are underrepresented in surgical series.

Clinical Validation of Plasma p‐217tau in Neurological Diseases

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Plasma p‐217tau is a minimally invasive but specific biomarker for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, its disease specificity remains to be clinically evaluated. We validated the reliability of the p‐217tau biomarker in 12 other neurological diseases.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Detecting Practical Attacks for Continuous-Variable Quantum Key Distribution Using Quantum k-Nearest Neighbor

open access: yesInformation
Continuous-variablequantum key distribution (CVQKD) enables information-theoretically secure communications between two legitimate users. However, practical CVQKD systems remain vulnerable to various attacks, while existing machine-learning-based ...

Elevated Connectivity During Language Processing Is Associated With Cognitive Performance in SeLECTS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Self‐Limited Epilepsy with Centrotemporal Spikes (SeLECTS) is associated with language impairments despite seizures originating in the motor cortex, suggesting aberrant cross‐network interactions. Here we tested whether functional connectivity in SeLECTS during language tasks predicts language performance.

A Security Study of Multimodel Artificial Intelligence System: Adaptive Retention Attack for Object Detection System with Multifocus Image Fusion Model

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems
Image preprocessing models are usually employed as the preceding operations of high‐level vision tasks to improve the performance. The adversarial attack technology makes both these models face severe challenges.

IV Thrombolysis Facilitates Interventional Reperfusion in Non‐Cardioembolic but Not Cardioembolic Stroke

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) before thrombectomy for ischemic stroke may alter clot structure and procedural performance. We investigated how IVT relates to thrombectomy metrics across stroke etiologies. Methods We performed a time‐to‐event analysis of consecutive patients with anterior circulation large vessel occlusion (acLVO ...

SPG4 and Dementia: Expanding the Clinical Spectrum

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.
