Some Notes on Attapulgite

Clay Minerals, 1950
As both attapulgite clays and some montmorillonite clays are termed “fuller's earths” in the literature, a comparison is made between the physical properties of the two groups of material, with special reference to those which are important commercially.

Rheological Properties of Polypropylene/Attapulgite Nanocomposite

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2010
The rheological properties of nanocomposites consisting of organic modified attapulgite and polypropylene are investigated. The morphology of the nanocomposites was studied with scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Linear dynamic viscoelasticity and steady state flow step of the nanocomposites are presented.

New data on Sepiolite and Attapulgite

Clays and clay minerals (National Conference on Clays and Clay Minerals), 1956
AbstractHydrothermal studies have failed to yield synthetic attapulgite or sepiolites in the system MgO-Al2O3-SiO2-H2O. However, the natural minerals can be decomposed to yield mont-morillonoids by mild hydrothermal treatment as low as 200°C and probably as low as 100°C. These data indicate that they are metastable and probably could not have formed at

Attapulgite-pesticide interactions

1981
As most pesticides are either insoluble or only slightly soluble in water and must be applied in relatively small amounts over large areas, they are formulated in such a way that a highly concentrated organic chemical can be put into a convenient-to-use and effective form for field use by blending it with additives and inert carriers.

Biological effects of attapulgite.

IARC scientific publications, 1981
Some clay minerals occur naturally in a fibrous or lath-like crystal state as attapulgite and sepiolite. Because of their sorptive and colloidal properties, attapulgite and sepiolite have numerous industrial applications, mainly as additives in oil-drilling muds, in chemical fertilizers, pesticides, paints, adhesive products, bleaching agents, cosmetic

Attapulgite: Properties and Uses

Clays and clay minerals (National Conference on Clays and Clay Minerals), 1961
AbstractThe clay mineral attapulgite derives its non-swelling needle-like morphology from its three-dimensional crystal structure. The shape and size of the needles result in unique colloidal properties, especially resistance to high concentrations of electrolytes, and give high surface area, high porosity particles when thermally activated.

Electrochemical Properties of Na–Attapulgite

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1996
Abstract Analytical surface charge (σ a ), electrophoretic, and physicochemical properties of an homoionic form of Na–attapulgite show some similarity with those exhibited by homoionic sodium forms of the platy clay minerals kaolinite and illite. Both electrophoretic mobility ( u e ) and analytic or titratable surface charge show dependency on pH ...

Alignment effect of attapulgite on the mechanical properties of poly(vinyl alcohol)/attapulgite nanocomposite fibers

Journal of Polymer Science Part B: Polymer Physics, 2006
AbstractPoly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/attapulgite (AT) nanocomposite fibers have been prepared by wet spinning. The morphology and mechanical properties of the modified PVA fibers have been characterized with transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), birefringence measurements, and ...

[The adsorption on attapulgite and cross-linked agar beads entrapped attapulgite(CAA)].

Sheng wu yi xue gong cheng xue za zhi = Journal of biomedical engineering = Shengwu yixue gongchengxue zazhi, 2002
The adsorption of four drugs with certain toxicity, i.e. chlorpromazine, quinidine, diazepam and phenobarbital on attapulgite and Cross-linked Agar Beads Entrapped Attapulgite(CAA) was determined in this study. The results revealed that attapulgite possessed high adsorption for the cation drugs(chlorpromazine and quinidine), moderate adsorption for ...

Fibrillar Attapulgite–Rubber Nanocomposites

2016
Rubber, as a special polymer material with high elasticity at room temperature, has been widely used in industries. However, rubber has to be reinforced by using nanofillers to meet the needs of industrial applications because of its low mechanical strength.
