Vanadium dioxide circuits emulate neurological disorders [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Information in the central nervous system (CNS) is conducted via electrical signals known as action potentials and is encoded in time. Several neurological disorders including depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), originate in faulty brain signaling frequencies.

In Situ Proliferating Peptide Nanoparticle Augments Multi‐Target Intervention of Secondary Brain Damage Following Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work designs an in situ proliferating peptide nanoparticle as a flexible resolution that modulates the neuro‐glia unit to enable enhanced multi‐target combinational therapy for secondary brain damage following subarachnoid hemorrhage. Abstract Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a lethal stroke subtype, involves complex pathological cascades triggered ...

Comorbidity-Informed Transfer Learning for Neuro-developmental Disorder Diagnosis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Neuro-developmental disorders are manifested as dysfunctions in cognition, communication, behaviour and adaptability, and deep learning-based computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) can alleviate the increasingly strained healthcare resources on neuroimaging.

Learning Multi-resolution Graph Edge Embedding for Discovering Brain Network Dysfunction in Neurological Disorders [PDF]

open access: yesInformation Processing in Medical Imaging, Proceedings 27, 2021, pp. 253-266, 2019
Tremendous recent literature show that associations between different brain regions, i.e., brain connectivity, provide early symptoms of neurological disorders. Despite significant efforts made for graph neural network (GNN) techniques, their focus on graph nodes makes the state-of-the-art GNN methods not suitable for classifying brain connectivity as ...

LRRC4 Deficiency Drives Premature Ovarian Insufficiency by Disrupting Metabolic Homeostasis in Granulosa Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LRRC4 deficiency disrupts the metabolic homeostasis of mitochondrial aerobic respiration and glycolysis during GC differentiation by inhibiting the ubiquitination‐mediated degradation of YAP, which ultimately leads to POI. These findings reveal the novel molecular etiology of POI and provide a promising target for prevention and treatment.

Novel Electroactive Therapeutic Platforms for Cardiac Arrhythmia Management

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Electroactive platforms offer promising applications in cardiac arrhythmia. Based on their energy sources and mechanisms, electroactive platforms are categorized into i) direct electrical stimulation, ii) self‐powered electroactive systems, iii) physical stimuli‐mediated electroactive systems, and iv) conductive systems, and their applications in ...

Executive functioning in adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder: A systematic review

open access: yesActa Neurológica Colombiana
Introduction: Executive function deficits are associated with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in both children and adults. The inattentive subtype is primary related to “cold” executive functions, while the hyperactive subtype is related
