Early Alzheimer’s risk detection via diffusion tensor imaging using a few-shot multichannel attention residual learning network

open access: yesFrontiers in Artificial Intelligence
IntroductionAlzheimer’s disease (AD) is responsible for many dementia-related deaths worldwide, and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is often its earliest clinical manifestation.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A network-based brain stimulation paradigm for alcohol use disorder with co-occurring major depressive disorder: a mini review targeting the ventral attention network

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is frequently complicated by co-occurring major depressive disorder (MDD), a comorbidity associated with greater clinical severity, elevated relapse risk, and poorer treatment outcomes than either condition alone.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Hybrid spatial and channel attention in post‐accident object detection

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems
Analysing post‐accident scenes using in‐vehicle cameras is crucial for effective highway traffic control and enhancing accident response, road safety, and traffic flow.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Does this smell the same? Learning representations of olfactory mixtures using inductive biases

open access: yesMachine Learning: Science and Technology
Olfaction—how molecules are perceived as odors to humans—is a relatively less understood sensory system compared to vision or hearing. Recently, the principal odor map (POM) was introduced to digitize the olfactory properties of single compounds. However,
