Migraine phenotype differentially modulates the attentional network: A cross sectional observation study

open access: yesCephalalgia Reports, 2022
Background: Signs of distinct brain dysfunction in patients where migraine intersects with vertigo (i.e. vestibular migraine (VM)), remain elusive. As migraine and vertigo can both independently modulate attentional processes, here we seek the utility of

Simplicial Attention Networks

open access: yes, 2022
Graph representation learning methods have mostly been limited to the modelling of node-wise interactions. Recently, there has been an increased interest in understanding how higher-order structures can be utilised to further enhance the learning abilities of graph neural networks (GNNs) in combinatorial spaces.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Natural Environment and Social Relationship in the Development of Attentional Network

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2020
The attention mechanism is related to both voluntary and automatic processes, that may be summarized in three distinct networks: alert, orientation, and inhibitory control. These networks can be modulated by different contextual and relational situations.

Goal management training improves executive control in adults with ADHD: an open trial employing attention network theory to examine effects on attention

open access: yesBMC Psychology, 2022
Background Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) typically experience poorer attentional control. According to the attention network theory, attentional control relies on three interacting networks of alerting, orienting, and ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Neural basis of the interaction between alerting and executive control

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
Attentional alerting—evoked by an accessory stimulus such as a tone presented briefly before target onset—generally decreases response time (RT) but this decrease is smaller in trials with a conflict (induced, e.g., by presenting flankers that are ...

Modulation of executive attention by threat stimulus in test-anxious students

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
The study examined whether test anxiety (TA) is related to impaired attentional networks under emotional distraction. High and low test-anxious students completed a modified version of the Attention Network Test (ANT) in which emotional distracters ...

NKCC1: A key regulator of glioblastoma progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioblastoma (GBM) progression is driven by disrupted chloride cotransporter homeostasis. NKCC1 is highly expressed in stem‐like, astrocytic, and progenitor cells, correlating with earlier recurrence, while overall survival remains unaffected. NKCC1 serves as a prognostic marker and potential therapeutic target, linking chloride transporter imbalance ...

Contribution of Attentional Networks to Basic Arithmetic Achievement in School-age Children

open access: yesPsicología Educativa: Revista de los Psicólogos de la Educación, 2022
Nowadays, there is still debate about the origin of arithmetic disabilities. Two predominant hypotheses have been developed in this regard: 1) difficulties in arithmetic appear due to a deficit in domain-specific skills (numerical skills) and 2) there is
