Terahertz cavity-enhanced attenuated total reflection spectroscopy

We realized cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy in the terahertz spectral region by combining multilayer mirrors with an attenuated total reflection technique. Using this technique, we were able to observe an absorbance of biological samples with a minimum detectable concentration as low as 8×10−10mol∕mm2.

Time-Domain Terahertz Attenuated Total Reflection Spectroscopy

We have established a novel spectroscopy that is a combination of THz time-domain spectroscopy and attenuated total-reflection technique. This spectroscopy enables us to explore surface polariton modes in metals and dielectrics. In addition, this will open a new possibility for biological and medical sensing in waters.

The use of the infrared attenuated total reflection technique (ATR) was explored as a sensitive procedure for the measurement of surface coverages of carbon dioxide films condensed on silicon. The technique of ATR appears to be feasible for the study of monolayer coverages.

Attenuated total reflection from oriented polypropylene films

Abstract Molecular orientation on one-way stretched polypropylene films has been characterized by applying polarized infrared attenuated-total-reflection (ATR) techniques. The surface orientation exhibits radial symmetry about the axis of drawing with the observed dichroic ratios approximately equal to the bulk values.
