Wave Attenuation in Elastic Continuum with Attenuating Neighborhood

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1994
Spatial wave attenuation in elastic material is investigated in light of attenuating neighborhood theory of contiuum mechanics. The attenuating part of the constitutive equation is expressed by an integral function of strain over each point of the material.

Increased Lung Attenuation

2007
The increased lung attenuation pattern develops when the amount of air in the airspaces and in the lumen of the airways decreases (resulting from lung volume decrease or from partial or total filling of the airspaces) and when the soft tissue structures increase in size and/or amount, two phenomena that often occur simultaneously.

Attenuation Compensation and Estimation

2013
Estimating the loss of ultrasound signal with propagation depth as a function of frequency is essential for quantifying tissue properties. Specifically, ultrasound attenuation is used to correct for spectral distortion prior to estimating quantitative ultrasound parameters to assess the tissue.

Attenuation and distortion of waves

Electrical Engineering, 1933
The conventional theory explaining the attenuation and distortion of traveling waves is not adequate to explain many peculiarities found to exist in such waves, In this paper there is developed a multi-conductor multi-velocity theory of traveling waves which more completely explains wave behavior. The conventional traveling wave theory is shown to be a

Ignorance and attenuation

We introduce the existential modifier cumva in Romanian, which is ambiguous between amanner adverbial and an attenuating modifier. We describe its distribution and interpretationin declaratives and show that cumva has two possible meaning contributions, depending onthe element it modifies: (i) ignorance, when it acts as a manner adverb, and (ii ...
