Live Attenuated Varicella Vaccine

open access: yesThe Journal of Pediatrics, 1984
Live attenuated varicella vaccine will in all probability soon be licensed in the United States for immunization of healthy children and adults and certain immunocompromised children. This vaccine can be expected to protect susceptibles from varicella (or to modify it) in those subsequently exposed to the wild virus.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Use of Macroseismic Intensity Data to Validate a Regionally Adjustable Ground Motion Prediction Model

open access: yesGeosciences, 2019
In low-to-moderate seismicity (intraplate) regions where locally recorded strong motion data are too scare for conventional regression analysis, stochastic simulations based on seismological modelling have often been used to predict ground motions of ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Acoustic Attenuation in High-$T_c$ Superconductors

open access: yes, 1995
We analyze the acoustic attenuation rate in high-$T_c$ superconductors, and find that this method offers an additional way to examine the anisotropy of the superconducting order parameter in these materials.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Attenuation of sound in ducts with acoustic treatment: A generalized approximate equation [PDF]

open access: yes
A generalized approximate equation for duct lining sound attenuation is presented. The specification of two parameters, the maximum possible attenuation and the optimum wall acoustic impedance is shown to completely determine the sound attenuation for ...

Effects of dust scattering albedo and 2175 A bump on ultraviolet colours of normal disc galaxies

open access: yes, 2006
We discuss dust properties in the interstellar medium (ISM) of nearby normal galaxies, by comparing observations in the ultraviolet (UV) with simulations by a radiative transfer model.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
