Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Estimate of the attenuation coefficient using a clinical array transducer for the detection of cervical ripening in human pregnancy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Premature delivery is the leading cause of infant mortality in the United States. Currently, premature delivery cannot be prevented and new treatments are difficult to develop due to the inability to diagnose symptoms prior to uterine contractions ...

Critical sound attenuation in a diluted Ising system

open access: yes, 2005
The field-theoretic description of dynamical critical effects of the influence of disorder on acoustic anomalies near the temperature of the second-order phase transition is considered for three-dimensional Ising-like systems.

Impact of open de-ionized water thin film laminar immersion on the liquid immersed ablation threshold and ablation rate of features machined by KrF excimer laser ablation of bisphenol A polycarbonate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Debris control and surface quality are potential major benefits of sample liquid immersion when laser micromachining; however, the use of an immersion technique potentially modifies the ablation mechanism when compared to an ambient air interaction.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Inherent Optical Properties Attenuation Coefficient Modelling for Optical Shallow Water in Kepulauan Seribu of Jakarta, Indonesia

open access: yesIlmu Kelautan
Technology to obtain bathymetric information has become necessary considering the length of the coastline and the many islands owned by Indonesia. Measurement technology using multi-beam and single-beam echo sounders is still an alternative to producing ...

Ultrasound attenuation dependence on air compression or expansion processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this work variation of ultrasonic attenuation coefficient is analyzed in terms of air compression or expansion processes. In\ud closed spaces changing air volume, the ultrasound attenuation coefficient depends on thermodynamic processes which occur ...

Wave attenuation at a salt marsh margin: A case study of an exposed coast on the Yangtze estuary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
To quantify wave attenuation by (introduced) Spartina alterniflora vegetation at an exposed macrotidal coast in the Yangtze Estuary, China, wave parameters and water depth were measured during 13 consecutive tides at nine locations ranging from 10 m ...

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.
