History and Development of the Atterberg Limits Tests
1960Albert Atterberg, a Swedish soil scientist, reported in 1911 (1) on an extensive study he had conducted concerning the plasticity of clays. To Atterberg, plasticity meant “capable of being shaped,” and the best indication of this capacity was ability to be rolled out into threads.
