The catches of bark beetles (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) were compared between attractive traps releasing semiochemicals and passive traps (cylindrical sticky screens hung, at 10 heights of 0.7-11.5 m, on poles). A central attractive-trap pole was surrounded by three passive-trap poles spaced 50 or 100 m away at the apices of an equilateral triangle.

The attraction effect has been investigated primarily in Western cultures. In this research, we demonstrate that the attraction effect is mitigated in Eastern cultures. Cognitive processing styles of these cultures can explain the findings. Moreover, our

Effects of sexual dimorphism on facial attractiveness

Effectiveness, Attractiveness, and Unity

We will try to show how the three variables are crucial for long-run success, and that effectiveness cannot possibly be the only one, like one of the people in the case (Robert) seems to believe (implicitly or explicitly).

The spillover effect of attractions
Tourism Economics, 2016Destinations formulate their tourism development strategies based on a number of factors, including tourism spillover effects. Using data from 98 administrative cities in Eastern China from 2004 to 2012 and spatial modelling techniques, this study examines the spillover effect of attractions, including natural, cultural and man-made attractions.

Attracting mates: Effects of paternal investment on mate attraction strategies
Ethology and Sociobiology, 1993Abstract It is proposed here that mate-attraction strategies among females and among males vary facultatively with expectations about paternal investment. The following four hypotheses are argued and tested: 1. Females who expect to find investing mates will be more likely than other females to emphasize their need for investment by suppressing ...

Automobile Paint Effective as an Insect Attractant
Science, 1967Two acrylic auto paints were effective attractants for sap beetles, Stelidota geminata (Say) and Glischrochilus fasciatus (Oliver). Response to the synthetic lures was sufficient to encourage additional testing of their potential in survey and control programs.
