Attractors and quasi-attractors of a flow

Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computing, 2007
In this paper, the connection among the attractor, the attractor neighborhood and the domain of influence are investigated. A necessary and sufficient condition of the existence of the quasi-attractor is established. Some results of Conley in [2] are generalized.

Is there a climatic attractor?

Nature, 1984
Much of our information on climatic evolution during the past million years comes from the time series describing the isotope record of deep-sea cores. A major task of climatology is to identify, from this apparently limited amount of information, the essential features of climate viewed as a dynamic system.

Avian Attractor

Proceedings of the 2016 CHI Conference Extended Abstracts on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2016
Avian Attractor is a gestural projection combining depth images of viewers and pre-captured shots of birds in natural and architectural environment. Surface impressions of viewers merge with those of urban birds and procedural agents that extend their flight paths and trajectories. These moving images are both seen and seen through -- motionscapes that

Some properties of attractors and quasi-attractors

Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, 2007
Abstract In the study of the complexity of a dynamical system defined on a compact metric space X, the attractors and quasi-attractors are the objects of fundamental interest. In this paper, we shall give some properties of attractors and quasi-attractors. Finally, the Conley’s strong stability property will be improved.

The Dimension of the Attractor

1984
The purpose of this section is to present results on the “size” of the attractor. This will be given in terms of limit capacity and Hausdorff dimension. The principal results are applicable not only to RFDE but also to some of the abstract dynamical systems considered in Section 2.

Attractor networks

WIREs Cognitive Science, 2009
AbstractAn attractor network is a network of neurons with excitatory interconnections that can settle into a stable pattern of firing. This article shows how attractor networks in the cerebral cortex are important for long‐term memory, short‐term memory, attention, and decision making.

Global attractors in electrohydrodynamics

International Journal of Engineering Science, 1997
The Faedo-Galerkin method is applied to study an initial-boundary value problem in electrohydrodynamics. We prove that the semigroup generated by the corresponding dynamical system has a global attractor of finite Hausdorff dimension.
