Targeted Homomorphic Attribute-Based Encryption
In key-policy attribute-based encryption ABE, messages are encrypted respective to attributes x, and keys are generated respective to policy functions f. The ciphertext is decryptable by a key only if $$fx=0$$fx=0. Adding homomorphic capabilities to ABE is a long standing open problem, with current techniques only allowing compact homomorphic ...

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Guaranteeing anonymity in attribute-based authorization
Attribute-based methods, such as attribute-based access control and attribute-based encryption, make decisions based on attributes possessed by a subject rather than the subject's identity. While this allows for anonymous authorization -- determining that a subject is authorized without knowing the identity of the subject -- it does not guarantee ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Reusable attribute-based signature with attribute revocation and authenticated key agreement
In the pursuit of establishing a unified model for fine-grained access control and secure data communication within a distributed microservices architecture, a verifier-policy attributed-based signature (VP-ABS) scheme, augmented with attribute ...

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Auditable Anonymous Electronic Examination
Ensuring security in electronic examination systems represents a significant challenge, particularly when practical considerations dictate that most involved parties cannot be fully trusted due to self-interest.
