Behaviour, 1966
The instinct versus learning controversy once revived by LEHRMAN's critique of LORENZ's theory has subsided, yet the issue seems to remain unclear in the minds of many people (SCHOENFELD & BARON, 1965). Although neither the definition of instinct nor the criteria for the dichotomy have been formally put forth, ethologists characterized instinctive ...

Assessing attributions in marriage: The Relationship Attribution Measure.
Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 1992A brief, simple measure of different types of attributions for partner behavior was examined in 3 studies of married couples. Reliability was established by high internal consistency and test-retest correlations. Causal and responsibility attribution scores correlated with marital satisfaction, attributions for marital difficulties, and attributions ...

Instigation of Attribution Processes by Attributional Questions
Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, 1978Subjects received help from a confederate that either was or was not situationally facilitated. Half of the subjects then rated the confederate's prosocial dispositional qualities, while the other half did not. Subsequent ratings of the confed- erate revealed attributional mediation of perceived attractive- ness only for subjects who had been asked ...

Leadership & Organization Development Journal, 1995
Reports the conclusions of a study involving inādepth interviews with 18 business leaders, focusing on the qualities and skills they felt to be essential for success in directing and guiding a large organization. These qualities include the ability to make sense of a complicated pattern of events and from this formulate clear goals for the organization;

Selecting syntactic attributes for authorship attribution
The 2011 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, 2011In this work we present a methodology to select syntactic attributes for authorship attribution. The approach takes into account a multi-objective genetic algorithm and a Support Vector Machine classifier and it operates in a wrapper mode. Through a series of comprehensive experiments on a database composed of 3000 short articles written in Portuguese ...

Finding circular attributes in attribute grammars
Journal of the ACM, 1999The problem of finding the circular attributes in an grammar is considered. Two algorithms are proposed: the first is polynomial but yields conservative results while the second is exact but is potentially expontial. It is also shown that finding the circular attributes is harder than testing circularity.

On attribute grammars without attribute synthesis
Information Processing Letters, 1990Abstract We characterize precisely the power of attribute grammars when all functions are identities (such attribute grammars are known to simulate functionless logic programs). In the general case, the problem of deciding whether a given grammar generates a given string is complete for exponential time.
