The Diversity of the True Hoppers (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha)

open access: yes, 2018
International audienceThis chapter describes the diversity of the Auchenorrhyncha, for which the authors apply the common name "true hoppers" as shorthand for leafhoppers, planthoppers, treehoppers, froghoppers, and cicadas, and as a parallel appellation

First record of three alien Auchenorrhyncha species from Europe: Acanalonia bivittata (Say, 1825), Branchana xanthota Li, 2011, and Dryadomorpha pallida Kirkaldy 1906 (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha: Acanaloniidae, Cicadellidae).

open access: yesZootaxa, 2022
Three alien Auchenorrhyncha species are recorded for the first time from Europe (northern Italy): the Nearctic planthopper Acanalonia bivittata (Say, 1825), the Asian leafhopper Branchana xanthota Li, 2011, and the leafhopper Dryadomorpha pallida ...

Morphology of arolia in Auchenorrhyncha (Insecta, Hemiptera)

open access: yesJournal of Morphology, 2014
ABSTRACTThe pretarsal arolium serves as an attachment device in many groups of insects, enabling them to walk efficiently on smooth surfaces, where claws alone do not provide sufficient foothold. The arolia of representatives of all major lineages of Auchenorrhyncha are described and illustrated, mainly using scanning electron microscopy and histology.

open access: yesZootaxa, 2022
The study is focused on the leafhopper tribe Adelungiini (Megophthalminae) of Iran and based on the specimens collected since 1970s to 2018 and deposited in the Hayk Mirzayans Insect Museum, Iranian Research Institute of Plant Protection, Teheran (Iran ...

Phylogeny of Membracoidea (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha) based on transcriptome data

Systematic Entomology, 2022
The suborder Auchenorrhyncha (“true hoppers”) comprises nearly half of known Hemiptera, with >43,000 known species of sap‐sucking herbivores distributed worldwide, including many important agricultural pests and vectors of plant disease.

From modern to classic: Classification of the planthopper family Issidae (Hemiptera, Auchenorrhyncha, Fulgoroidea) derived from a total‐evidence phylogeny

Systematic Entomology, 2022
The Issidae are highly diverse in terms of morphology and species richness. Despite recent efforts, the internal phylogeny and classification of this planthopper family remain controversial.

Phylogenomics of flavobacterial insect nutritional endosymbionts with implications for Auchenorrhyncha phylogeny

Cladistics, 2021
“Candidatus Sulcia muelleri” (Sulcia) is a diverse lineage of intracellular nutritional endosymbiotic bacteria strictly associated with auchenorrhynchous hemipteran insects.
