The structure of bivalents in the Homoptera Auchenorrhyncha

Chromosoma, 1960
1. The chromosomes of the cicadellid species Xerophloea viridis (2n=18+XY) and of species belonging to related genera, are far larger than the chromosomes of any other species belonging to the Auchenorrhyncha so far cytologically studied. 2. In X.

Morphology of arolia in Auchenorrhyncha (Insecta, Hemiptera)

Journal of Morphology, 2014
ABSTRACTThe pretarsal arolium serves as an attachment device in many groups of insects, enabling them to walk efficiently on smooth surfaces, where claws alone do not provide sufficient foothold. The arolia of representatives of all major lineages of Auchenorrhyncha are described and illustrated, mainly using scanning electron microscopy and histology.

Leafhoppers of the tribe Adelungiini (Auchenorrhyncha: Cicadellidae: Megophthalminae) in Iran

Zootaxa, 2022
The study is focused on the leafhopper tribe Adelungiini (Megophthalminae) of Iran and based on the specimens collected since 1970s to 2018 and deposited in the Hayk Mirzayans Insect Museum, Iranian Research Institute of Plant Protection, Teheran (Iran) and in the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Science, Saint Petersburg (Russia). Auchenorrhyncha [Cicadina]- Zikaden

2011

Wing-coupling apparatus of Auchenorrhyncha (insecta : Homoptera)

International Journal of Insect Morphology and Embryology, 1994
Abstract We carried out SEM studies of the wing-coupling apparatus (WCA) of 33 species of Auchenorrhyncha (Homoptera) belonging to 15 families. The main structure of this apparatus always has a wing-coupling forefold (WCFF) on the claval margin of the mesothoracic wings and a similar, longitudinal wing-coupling hindfold (WCHF) or shorter wing ...

The maxillary plate of Homoptera‐Auchenorrhyncha

Journal of Entomology Series A, General Entomology, 1973
SYNOPSISIt is suggested that a sensory structure situated on the maxillary plates of Homoptera may represent a modified maxillary palp. A discussion on the origin of the maxillary plates of Hemiptera is included.

The genera of Australian Membracidae (Hemiptera : Auchenorrhyncha)

Invertebrate Systematics, 1999
The genera of Australian Membracidae (Hemiptera) are revised. Thirty seven genera are recognised. A key to the genera and illustrations of representatives of most genera provide aids to identification. All known genera are described using morphological characters, some of which have not been employed previously for the Membracidae.

The Diversity of the True Hoppers (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha)

2018
This chapter describes the diversity of the Auchenorrhyncha, for which the authors apply the common name "true hoppers" as shorthand for leafhoppers, planthoppers, treehoppers, froghoppers, and cicadas, and as a parallel appellation for "true bugs" commonly used for Heteroptera.

An unusual chromosome system in a leafhopper (Homoptera auchenorrhyncha)

Chromosoma, 1968
An unidentified species of the genus Austroagalloides is shown to have 7II+1IV instead of the normal 11II+XO configuration at metaphase I of meiosis in males. The quadrivalent manifests two types of pairing which ensures regular disjunction; normal chiasma-type pairing and distance pairing. It is suggested that the 7II+1IV form is derived from the 11II+

An annotated catalogue of the Australian Cicadelloidea (Hemiptera : Auchenorrhyncha)

Invertebrate Systematics, 1994
All species of the families Cicadellidae, Eurymelidae and Membracidae described from Australia are listed, together with details of the primary type (type locality, type depository, collection details), known distribution and known hosts. Where appropriate. notes are given on nomenclature, biology and economic significance.
