Evaluation of Audio Compression Artifacts

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2007
This paper deals with subjective evaluation of audio-coding systems. From this evaluation, it is found that, depending on the type of signal and the algorithm of the audio-coding system, different types of audible errors arise.

Subjective Evaluation of Music Compressed with the ACER Codec Compared to AAC, MP3, and Uncompressed PCM

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Multimedia Broadcasting, 2019
Audio data compression has revolutionised the way in which the music industry and musicians sell and distribute their products. Our previous research presented a novel codec named ACER (Audio Compression Exploiting Repetition), which achieves data ...

The Audio Degradation Toolbox and its Application to Robustness Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We introduce the Audio Degradation Toolbox (ADT) for the controlled degradation of audio signals, and propose its usage as a means of evaluating and comparing the robustness of audio processing algorithms.

Arbitrary Orthogonal Polarization Decomposition and Routing With Complex Amplitude Modulation via Wheel‐of‐Fortune‐Inspired Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a receiver‐transmitter‐integrated metasurface that decomposes an incident wave into orthogonal components and routes them into separate channels. Inspired by a “Wheel‐of‐Fortune” mechanism, it enables independent control over the amplitude, phase, and polarization of the transmitted wave.

Study of integrated headphone MP3 / Mohd Amirul Mukmin Abd Wahab [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
As known as MP3 and it is a standard for audio compression that makes any music file smaller with little or no loss of sound quality. MP3 is part of MPEG, an acronym for Motion Pictures Expert Group, a family of standards for displaying video and ...

WS2 Optoelectronic Memristive Reservoir Enabling Ultra‐Low‐Power, Multi‐Task, and Environmentally Stable Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
WS2‐based in‐memory sensing reservoir computing integrates sensing, memory, and computation in one compact device. It achieves ∼94% N‐MNIST, ∼93% eye motion perception, and ∼89% speech recognition with ultra‐low energy (∼25.5 fJ/spike). The system shows stability at 95% humidity, endurance over 1.5M cycles, and supports synaptic plasticity, enabling ...

AAC compression detection based on scaling factor transition probability

open access: yesDianxin kexue, 2017
Audio compression history detection is an important part of audio forensics, which is important to detect whether audio has been tampered or forged. An algorithm of AAC audio compression history detection was presented by using the transition probability ...

Robust Audio Watermarks in Frequency Domain

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2014
In this paper an audio watermarking technique is presented, using log-spectrum, dirty paper codes and LDPC for watermark embedding. This technique may be used as a digital communication channel, transmitting data at about 40 b/s.
