Improved Audio Steganalytic Feature and Its Applications in Audio Forensics

ACM Transactions on Multimedia Computing, Communications, and Applications, 2018
Digital multimedia steganalysis has attracted wide attention over the past decade. Currently, there are many algorithms for detecting image steganography. However, little research has been devoted to audio steganalysis. Since the statistical properties of image and audio files are quite different, features that are effective in image steganalysis may ...

Audio watermarking forensics: detecting malicious re-embedding

SPIE Proceedings, 2010
Digital watermarking has become a widely used security technology in the domain of digital rights management and copyright protection as well as in other applications. In this work, we show recent results regarding a particular security attack: Embedding a new message in a previously watermarked cover using the same key as the original message ...

Overview of Audio Forensics

2010
Audio forensics applies the tools and techniques of audio engineering and digital signal processing to study audio data as part of a legal proceeding or an official investigation of some kind. This chapter summarizes the principal audio forensic tasks, including authentication, enhancement, and interpretation.

Audio forensic marking for music streaming service

2013 International Conference on ICT Convergence (ICTC), 2013
In this paper, we propose an audio forensic marking scheme suitable for music streaming service. To support the real time forensic marking embedding, our scheme consists of preparation stage and composition stage. We verified performance, robustness, and imperceptibility of the proposed scheme through some experiments.

Audio forensics from gunshot for firearm identification

The 4th Joint International Conference on Information and Communication Technology, Electronic and Electrical Engineering (JICTEE), 2014
The gunshot blast is one of the evidences used to identify the criminal gun in the shooting scene. We proposed a method of using the gunshot blast to identify the firearm caliber in terms of audio forensics. The experiments were performed on the database consisting of 80 audio files of gunshot sounds fired from 8 different guns.

History of Audio Forensics

2018
The ability to perform audio forensic analysis hinges on the availability of audio recordings made outside the confines of a recording studio. The first portable recorders using magnetic tape appeared in the 1950s, and soon these devices were used to obtain clandestine recordings of interviews and wiretaps, as well as to record interrogations and ...

A Forensics System for Live-Audio Watermarking

2020 International Symposium on Electronics and Telecommunications (ISETC), 2020
A common problem in audio forensics is the difficulty to authenticate an audio recording. You can have an argument against any audio probe. In this paper we propose a system that can take audio probes which can be used with success in a court. The recording will be bulletproof due to the use of a reference protocol based on an external entity, the ...

Authenticity verification of audio signals based on fragile watermarking for audio forensics

Expert Systems with Applications, 2018
Abstract This paper presents a new fragile watermarking method for digital audio authenticity for audio forensics purposes. The aim is to verify if an audio proof has been tampered and to locate the segments where the signal was modified. Our proposal is based on an embedding process of a text that is encoded through OVSF (Orthogonal Variable ...

Study of Wireless Channel Effects on Audio Forensics

2016 22nd Annual International Conference on Advanced Computing and Communication (ADCOM), 2016
In this work, we try to study the effect of a wireless channel on physical parameter prediction based on speech data. Speech data from 207 speakers along with corresponding speaker’s height and weight is collected. A three path Rayleigh fading channel with typical values of Doppler shift, path gain and path delay is utilized to create the mobile ...

Digital multimedia audio forensics: past, present and future

Multimedia Tools and Applications, 2017
Digital audio forensics is used for a variety of applications ranging from authenticating audio files to link an audio recording to the acquisition device (e.g., microphone), and also linking to the acoustic environment in which the audio recording was made, and identifying traces of coding or transcoding.
