Spatial audio technology for telepresence
BT Technology Journal, 1997As people start to exploit new telepresence technologies to meet and work, they will be able to exploit all of their senses as they transmit, receive, and monitor information. An essential part of such three-dimensional spaces is the audio landscape. People are able to detect a wide variety of sounds and separate them in space.

Audio Compression: Technology and Applications
AT&T Technical Journal, 1995Recent algorithms for perceptual audio coding have provided the capability of compressing compact disk (CD)-stereo audio material (at 1,406 kbits/s) into rates approximating 128 kbits/s. This capability has enabled the development of several new classes of applications in audio transmission, broadcasting, and storage.

Audio Networking: The Forgotten Wireless Technology
IEEE Pervasive Computing, 2005In this article, we'll review various modulation schemes we've worked with previously, covering how to transfer data to nearby smart phones as well as usability and security issues. We'll consider audio networking as a mechanism for introducing data packets into ongoing mobile phone calls.

Audio coding technology of ExAC
Proceedings of 2004 International Symposium on Intelligent Multimedia, Video and Speech Processing, 2004., 2005A new low bitrate audio coding technology (called "ExAC") based on enhanced audio coding (EAC) and spectral band replication (SBR) is introduced. The major building blocks of the coding schemes are explained, in which EAC works as a core coder and SBR works as a powerful bandwidth extension module.

Digital audio radio-an application of audio compression technology
Proceedings of the IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT'96), 2002Signal compression is a key element in emerging technology for digital audio. AT&T Bell Laboratories algorithms for perceptual audio coding have provided the capability of compressing compact disc (CD) stereo audio at 1406 kbits/sec into rates approximating 128 kbits/sec.

Technologies for speech and audio coding
2009 IEEE 13th International Symposium on Consumer Electronics, 2009This paper reviews some important technologies for speech and audio coding, contrasting time domain and frequency domain processing. These technologies have contributed to the standardization activities in ITU-T and ISO/IEC MPEG, respectively. It is interesting that the standardization targets for speech and audio have started to converge recently. The
