Audiovestibular functions in essential hypertension

An objective assessment of audiovestibular functions in patients with essential hypertensions has been done. We found that uncomplicated hypertension did not affect hearing at low frequencies. In addition, history of vertigo was present in mild to moderate hypertension.

Audiovestibular Tests in the Diagnosis of Cerebellopontine Angle Tumours

Symptoms and signs were recorded in a series of 78 patients with a cerebello-pontine-angle (CPA) tumour and in 92 patients with symptoms and signs suggestive of such a lesion but with a negative CT scan. Variable symptomatology was found in the tumour cases.

[Audiovestibular study in Friedreich's ataxia].

A preliminary report is presented of the audiovestibular findings in 16 cases of typical Friedreich ataxia. Many ENG abnormalities of the central type were found, the most frequent being square waves, ocular dysmetria, and disorganized pursuit of the pendulum. The other abnormal findings were less frequent or less specific.
