Utilization and Perceived Necessity of Tactile Symbols for Children With Intellectual Disabilities and Blindness: A Questionnaire Survey Conducted on Teachers at Schools for the Blind

open access: yesJournal of Policy and Practice in Intellectual Disabilities, Volume 23, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Tactile symbols are effective communication tools for children with intellectual disabilities and visual impairments, supporting access to information and fuller participation in daily activities. In Japan, however, no sustainable, standard set of tactile symbols exists that is adapted to the local educational and cultural contexts.

Relationship between locus coeruleus and slow‐wave sleep in aging and Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Sleep disruption, particularly loss of slow‐wave sleep (SWS), is common in Alzheimer's disease (AD), but its neurobiological underpinnings remain unclear. We investigated whether locus coeruleus (LC) integrity relates to SWS across the AD continuum and whether sex and perivascular spaces (PVSs) modify these associations.

The Neural Organization of Visual Information in the Auditory Cortex of the Congenitally Deaf

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 2, February 1, 2026.
Using fMRI and pRF modeling, we show that visual spatial information is represented in the auditory cortex of congenital deaf individuals through deactivation signals. These negative BOLD responses suggest a novel mechanism of cross‐modal plasticity.

Computer Vision‐Guided Automated External Defibrillator System Improves Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Accuracy: A Randomized Crossover Trial

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrests (OHCAs) remain a critical challenge in emergency care, as CPR effectiveness heavily relies on precise chest compressions. We propose a novel CPR guidance system using computer vision to track rescuer motion in real time.

Artificial Intelligence in Multimedia Content Generation: A Review of Audio and Video Synthesis Techniques

open access: yesJournal of the Society for Information Display, Volume 34, Issue 2, Page 49-67, February 2026.
Modern AI systems can now synthesize coherent multimedia experiences, generating video and audio directly from text prompts. These unified frameworks represent a rapid shift toward controllable and synchronized content creation. From early neural architectures to transformer and diffusion paradigms, this paper contextualizes the ongoing evolution of ...
