Single‐Cell Force Spectroscopy Uncovers Root Zone‐ and Bacteria‐Specific Interactions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Atomic force microscopy (AFM) was used to investigate at the single‐cell level the reversible primary attachment between plant growth‐promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and plant roots. Bacterial affinities are both species‐ and region‐specific along the root, with flagella playing a key role in mediating these interactions.
