Inhibitory Plasticity in Auditory Cortex [PDF]
Arguably the most important property of neuronal circuits in general, and of cortical circuits in particular, is plasticity--the ability to change in response to past experience. While many studies of plasticity emphasize changes in excitatory transmission, in this issue of Neuron, Galindo-Leon et al.

The paper is divided into three main sections: a review of the development of spatial transcriptomics technology, its applications in livestock and poultry research, and its future prospects. This article provides an overview of the current state of spatial transcriptomics in animal research, exploring its integration with multiomics technologies as ...

ABSTRACT Prominent theories of autism suggest autism‐associated differences in visual‐motor integration (VMI) may disrupt learning of motor and social skills typically acquired by observation and imitation. Supporting these theories, children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) show robust differences in motor tasks reliant on dynamic VMI (e.g., ball ...

The Auditory Cortex in Schizophrenia [PDF]
Sweet et al have recently shown that the somal volume of pyramidal cells is reduced in layer 3 of the auditory cortex in schizophrenic patients (Sweet et al 2004; Sweet et al 2003). In this issue of Biological Psychiatry, they report new data showing that the density of axon terminals is also significantly decreased in the same layer (Sweet et al 2006).

ABSTRACT Autistic individuals exhibit altered perceptual and visuomotor behaviors, potentially due to reduced cortical specialization. The current study focuses on handedness, a robust marker of cerebral specialization, which is less right‐biased in autism.

ABSTRACT Neurological disorders represent a critical domain within global health, necessitating advanced interventions to address complex pathologies such as tumors, functional disorders, and cerebrovascular diseases. Despite the proven benefits of early intervention, current treatment paradigms face significant challenges: (1) limited precision in ...
