Perceptual separation of sensorineural hearing loss and auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder
The Laryngoscope, 2015Objectives/HypothesisThe present study aimed to examine whether the response patterns to the chimeric lexical tone tokens, combined with their pure tone audiometry (PTA) results, could separate listeners with sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) from listeners with auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder (ANSD).Study DesignCase‐control study.MethodsForty ...

Diagnosis of Auditory Perceptual Disorders in Previously Undiagnosed Adults
Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1983Twenty four adult patients who presented to a number of hospital services with complaints generally related to difficulty hearing, understanding, remembering, or writing were examined for auditory perceptual disorders. All subjects exhibited neurological functioning, auditory acuity, and language abilities within normal limits.

Auditory perceptual problems in non‐organic hearing disorder
The Laryngoscope, 1989AbstractA series of 22 patients who presented with non‐organic hearing disorder were examined for auditory perceptual problems. A test battery that examined eight areas of auditory perception revealed significant auditory perceptual problems in each of the 22 patients.

PurposeThe conventional amplification devices render minimal or no benefit at abating the speech perception problems of individuals with auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder (ANSD). This study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of noise reduction strategies (multiband spectral subtraction, Wiener-as, Karhunen–Loeve transform [Subspace], and ideal ...

Auditory Perceptual Impairments in Children with Specific Language Disorders
Journal of Speech and Hearing Disorders, 1981This article reviews the literature on auditory perceptual impairments in children with language disorders. It is suggested that, rather than a higher-order cognitive or "linguistic" deficit, the underlying deficit in childhood language disorders is a perceptual one.

A time-compressed version of the PB-K 50 speech discrimination measure was administered to 20 children diagnosed as displaying auditory perceptual disorders. Results indicated that these children performed equally well at both 0 and 30% time compression. Performance decreased significantly at 60% time compression.

The test battery typically used for the diagnosis of auditory processing disorder (APD) is highly heterogeneous, with an emphasis on the central auditory nervous system. As such, the peripheral auditory system is typically only screened for the presence of an overt hearing loss.

ABSTRACTSInfants (321) who had been screened for language delay and auditory perceptual problems at 9 months of age were evaluated 1 year later. Of these infants 88.6% were correctly classified as at‐risk or not‐at‐risk of delayed linguistic development. The correlation between performance on the screen and on a language scale was 0.49.

Auditory-perceptual Assessment of Healthy and Disordered Voices Using the Voice Deviation Scale
Journal of VoiceThis study aims to (1) determine the cut-off values of the Global Severity of vocal deviation on the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) from the numerical scale ratings, and (2) identify the cut-off values according to different degrees of vocal deviation used by Voice-Specialized Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP).Prospective study. The auditory-perceptual ...
