Scanning electron excited Auger electron spectroscopy

Applications of Surface Science, 1979
Abstract A scanning Auger spectrometer can be operated in a number of modes including scanning electron microscopy, Auger point analysis, Auger line scan analysis, Auger mapping and depth profiling. These modes of operation are briefly discussed and demonstrated, with application to cathode studies wherever possible.

Auger Electron Spectroscopy in the Scanning Electron Microscope: Auger Electron Images

Applied Physics Letters, 1971
A two-dimensional surface chemical analysis over an area on a metal specimen has been accomplished by means of high-spatial-resolution Auger electron spectroscopy in a computerized scanning electron microscope. The experimental results are presented in graphic form by the new method of Auger electron imaging.

Quantitative Auger Electron Spectroscopy

1983
Publisher Summary This chapter reviews Auger electron emission from a target subjected to electron bombardment. It is noted that the chapter considers the Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) without reference to the excitation mode throughout, in order to denote the analysis technique developed for electron-induced Auger electron emission.

Analytical Auger Electron Spectroscopy

1974
Auger spectroscopy explores the electronic energy levels in atoms and solids. as an analytical technique, it has been applied to investigations of the first few atom layers of surfaces. the term “Auger process” has come to denote any electron de-excitation in which the de-excitation energy is transferred to a second electron, the “Auger electron ...
